Elements

This model for this painting, a musician and poet, is a friend and colleague of my son. He came to our house after being away a few years. When I say how his hair and beard had grown, giving him a sage-like, contemplative aura, I felt inspired to paint him. He agreed pose for some photos for me. The background came about rather spontaneously, invented as the painting progressed to express the mood I wanted to capture. It reflects the beautiful, moody winter skies we have here in New England that I love. The painting is oil on an aluminum panel, 24x20 inches.
