Morning Air

Oil on panel. I was struck by the freshness of the open blooms in the morning air and took a few sketches as well as reference photos. The final was completed in the studio from memory of the feeling and the reference images of different blooms composed together in the crisp new light. The composition was created to give the feeling of reaching up and out into the sky, just as it felt seeing them, as though they were taking a deep breath of fresh air.
