Misty Trailhead was inspired by photos I took at the onset of a morning walk just outside our campsite location in Buck's Pocket State Park, in Alabama. The low lying valley area was shrouded in mist that morning, and the foliage of all the old growth hardwoods had a pale grey green cast, against a grey sky. The sun was just beginning to burn through as we headed out, revealing more color, but this early light was reminiscent of the color palettes in lithographs featured in antiquarian books. I used lots of granulating pigments to capture the fractured light of the mist.
