Salt Plains Shadows

Last summer, I had the chance to stop by the Great Salt Plains in far northwestern Oklahoma. We never found the salt plains--but we did find a lovely state park along the lake where we could stretch our legs. it was midday, so there weren't long shadows, but they were deep and cool and were ready to be painted. After some photographs and quick sketches on location, I painted this version in the studio.
