Autumn Impressions

This pastel painting with a watercolor underpainting was inspired by a recent drive through the foothills of the Ozark Mountains in northern Arkansas. I wanted to direct the viewer to the tree line and distant hills but still capture a sense of the texture and myriad of colors among the ochre-toned grasses.
