I was sketching on location on a September afternoon when I observed this boat come into harbour. Picking up a mooring ball under sail is not an easy task, but these two experienced sailors made it look easy. I painted this to show the moment of focus and intent that comes as the crew works together to safely secure the boat. I couldn't paint the moment on location as it is a fairly fleeting moment, but I had plenty of colour notes and visual memory from having been painting there at the waterfront all afternoon.
