Designated as the official Tall Ship of Texas, the Elissa, a three masted Barque, was the subject of this painting. Painted on site in Galveston, Texas, during the Il Concorso de Machia, I focused on the front of the ship and invented the water journey from its maiden voyage in 1877 through the Scottish Isles. This work is designed as a historical work, but was predominantly painted on site.
