Melancholy

Melancholy, Figure & Portrait
Melancholy
A wonderful afternoon working from a dear friend who came to model for me and Terry Lee. I love working with white dresses, because "white" is every color in the rainbow! If outside it picks up all of it's surroundings, if indoors, it will enhance the light that you shine upon it!
To create a contrast to the soft flow of the figure and flowers, I included the edge of a frame, to "tickle" the background from the depths of dark, to the coming of the seated figure. The bouquet of flowers, and the drape of a shawl, are kept simple by making that area a tad more "abstract" by allowing the loaded brush to deliver colors, and values and shapes, leaving something to the viewer's imagination! Thus, making it a continuous circle of discovery!
