The Discovery , Corea Maine

7 years ago when visiting Maine I saw this classic 60's VW beetle. I was astonished to see it again this year and knew I had to paint it residing between these stately clapboard houses in this lobster fishing town. Fall foliage and low afternoon light shed shadows across the roof of the small garage shed and across the white elevation of the two story home. This was an opportunity to capture the contrast between the rounded car against the crisp elevations of the house surounded by the tatty fall color coastal foliage. I discovered the elderly owners bring the car out for the summer months and it was soon to be locked up for the winter in the nearby shed .
