Oil Painting on canvas, painted over the edge. Inspired by my drive through the the Puget Sound islands, I came upon field after field of gorgeous sunflowers on Whidbey Island that took my breath away. Sunflowers seem to have their individual personalities. Some seem so optimistic and proud, when others seem shy, reserved and willing to take a backseat, but together they create a Field of Wonder. Gently waving in warm summer breezes, each taking their turn center stage in the sun's spotlight.
Painted Alla Prima with both brush & palette knife. Impasto texture gives dimension to the sunflowers and blades of summer grass.
