This oil painting was done on a linen panel. This landscape is from a photo I took when my wife and I vacationed in the Great Smoky Mountains for Christmas 2020. They got about 6 inches of snow on Christmas Eve which made for a wonderful evening, and it was the first time that my wife saw snow! I emphasized the compliments of blue and orange for this painting to capture the stark contrast of the warm glow of the lamp to the cold blue, yet luminous, darkness of the snowy landscape. There are few greater feelings, in my opinion, than escaping and observing the quiet winter night.
