Bleeding Light

This nocturne is an original oil depicting the heartbreakingly beautiful reality of a forest fire. I painted this in the studio after an exceptionally intense fire season in my home of Montana. The piece talks about the importance of the metaphorical fires in our lives that bring about destruction in order to clear away the old and welcome in new life. The title speaks to the quality of these emotions and nature of the physical light--bleeding.
